The last time that Jo had been alive, her and her mother were helping the Winchester's beat the devil. But, as anyone would know, plans do not always go according to plan. And this one did not go as planned at all. It was one that ended Jo and her mother's lives. But as she sat on that floor, dying, bleeding to death, she did not hate nor blame Sam and Dean. She knew that she was dying trying to save the world. And that was all that was important. Meg had released a pack of Hellhounds on the group and one was about to get Dean when Jo had stopped, began shooting at it, trying to protect Dean. It was one heroic act that had cost her her own life in the process. She couldn't move, walk. There was no way that she would be able to get out of the building. She was dying. Her guts were practically being held in by an ace bandage. 'Can we at least be realistic about this please.' Realistic. All they wanted to do was to get Jo safely out of the building. But Jo knew that that was not going to happen. There was no way in Hell. So she had come up with a plan. To make a bomb, open the doors and blow those Hellhounds away. Or at least give Sam and Dean a few minutes head start. Give them a shot at beating the devil. Her mother stayed with her. After all, someone had to open those doors and like Jo had said, she wasn't moving. And a few moments beforehand, Jo had died in her mother's arms, and she had watched her mother from the sidelines. Saying a snarky comment and then blowing the building up.
Things were fine after her death. She was in Heaven with her mother. Had her own little Heaven. Well, hey, at least she didn't go down to Hell. Right? But something happened. She had been pulled out of Heaven, put back into her own body, and woke up in some open field in God knows where. She didn't even remember her time up in Heaven. The last thing she had actually remembered after being brought back was right before her death. Remembered closing her eyes and then everything had gone black. And woke up in some field, at night. Confused, unsure. She had know clue where she even was or how long she had been gone. Looking down, she noticed that she had been wearing the exact same clothes in which she had died in. She looked dirty, she was a complete mess. What she needed to do was find a place where she could clean up.
Well, that had been yesterday. Jo had started walking and along the way found an unattended car that still had the keys in the ignition. Looking around, Jo did not see anybody around. So, getting in, she started the car and continued driving down the street. She was tired, or at least felt really tired, and had been driving for a couple hours now. Somewhere along the way, the sun had come up. But she had not even noticed that it was daylight now. Noticing a street sign, Jo found out that she was in New Orleans, Louisiana. She had been driving for hours now, non-stop. She was starving and she was so tired. She knew that she was going to need to find somewhere so that she could get cleaned up and take a nap. Looking around at her surroundings as she drove down the road, she spotted a crappy motel. Sighing, Jo knew that she had no money. So she decided to check the car that she had stolen and did happen to find thirty dollars in the glove box. That would have to work for now. It should be enough so she could get at least a night in a cheap ass room and grab something cheap at some crappy American diner. Sighing, she got out of the car and began her walk towards the building.

Normally, Zelda would stay as far away from the New Orleans' Super Motel 8 (the service and cleanliness was absolutely deplorable) but a good friend of hers had been visiting for the past few days, Celia. Zelda had tried to insist on Celia staying with her, but she was just one of those people that absolutely had to do everything themselves. She didn't like her friend's decision, but her certainly respected it. It wasn't as if she would be waiting on Celia's hand and foot, though. She would have to carry her weight around at the house, but...her mind was made up.
It had been a lovely afternoon. Celia had stayed up in main to continue her own research, so the two friends really did not get to see each other all that often. Zelda wished that she hadn't felt obligated to leave New England, but...she did feel that it would be the best, despite how much she missed everyone. They'd had a pleasant afternoon tea (Celia wasn't English, but she enjoyed the English traditions) and then later, they would be going out to dinner; Zelda's treat.
"Oh, I'm so happy you've come to visit," she said, hugging her friend,"I'll let you get back to your work and I'll pick you up tonight at 5:30!" She left her friend feeling happy, but not satisfied.
While she had a nice time with her friend, she did not approve of the quality of service offered at the motel, so she wandered down to the main lobby and headed to the counter. The tea was weak, the biscuits were stale and when Zelda mentioned this to the worker, she was given quite a bit of attitude. Not acceptable, not acceptable at all.
Her attention was diverted from the main desk when she saw who had just walked into the motel. She stopped in her tracks. No...it couldn't be. Jo Harvelle had been a dear friend of Zelda's, despite being so far away, so she was absolutely broken-hearted when she found out that she had died. She wasn't given any detail or explanation, so she didn't know what had happened.
Zelda didn't care if she sounded crazy or not, but the girl that had just walked through the doors looked exactly like the girl in the photos that Jo had sent her. She had to take a chance. "I beg your pardon," she said, after walking up to the girl,"would your name happen to be Jo Harvelle by any chance?

Why couldn't Jo remember anything while she had been away? Was she in Heaven? She thought that she had been. But everything was just so vague. Jo did not even know how long she had been gone. It could not have been that long, could it have been? Maybe a few days? A couple of weeks? Longer? She had no idea that it had been almost two years now. More like a year and a half. She wondered what had happened with the devil. Did the Winchester's win? Did they get rid of him? Was he dead? And were Sam and Dean still alive? She definitely knew that she had to go and find the boys. She needed to know if they were okay. If they beat the freaking devil. But first thing was first. She needed a shower. She still was wearing the same clothes that she had died in. She was filthy. Her clothes were worn and torn. Her face looked dirty. It almost appeared as though she crawled out from beneath the ground. But that was not possible. She just woke up in a field. And how could that be? With the explosion, there would not have been a body to put her back into. She knew that there was a higher power at work here.
Jo did not know what to do, really. She figured that later on, she would go to some bar, maybe hustle a little pool to make some money. It was not like she would go begging for money. That just was so not who she was. And never would be. She was never a girl to take hand-outs. It just was never who she would be. If she needed help, she preferred figured it out for herself rather than letting anyone, even friends or family, help her out. Unless she was in dire need. And she was not in dire need at this time. And hopefully would never be.
She had not been paying attention. She was watching the ground as she walked and did not look up. That was until she heard a voice speak to her. And that was when Jo had finally looked up, looking into a very familiar face. Zelda. She remembered her. They talked about everything in letters. Sent each other pictures, even. Did she know that she had died? There was just something about her reaction, her voice, that she could not place a finger on. ”Yes. I'm Jo. And... you must be Zelda.” The two had never actually met and even though she had been dead for so long, she could never forget what this girl looked like in her picture.

Zelda raised her eyebrows slightly as the other girl turned to face her, taking in Jo's appearance. To be completely honest, Zelda was a bit of a snob when it came to appearance, but it was quite obvious to her that Jo's appearance was not to be blamed on laziness and sloppiness. She looked almost as if she had been attacked! The girl's clothes were ripped and she appeared to be almost completely covered in dirt.
She shook her head and pulled her attention away from Jo's appearance when the girl responded to her question. It had been so long since she had heard from the other girl. Zelda hadn't wanted to believe the letter regarding Jo's death that she had received so long ago...but after not receiving another letter from Jo, she begrudgingly accepted that her friend was, indeed, dead. She had been heartbroken over it, so she threw herself into her studies and spending time with other friends.
"Yes! Oh, I'm so glad we can finally meet," she said, taking Jo's hand in both of her own and giving it a light shake, before releasing. Zelda had been wanting to meet Jo face to face for the longest time and it seemed so surreal to be meeting her now. Especially by chance. At the risk of sounding cliche, what were the chance of that happening? Especially taking into consideration that Zelda was originally from England, that they would randomly meet in a dingy little motel in New Orleans, Louisiana. Quite strange.
"It's been so long since I've heard from you; you stopped returning my letters. Unless the post office really is that unreliable," she said with a grin and a light roll of her eyes. She'd heard horrible things about the American postal service, about how things were constantly getting lost and forgotten. That wasn't to say that the postal service back home was completely 100% reliable; Zelda could recall several things of hers that had gotten lost in the mail, unfortunately.
Of course, they did have each other's e-mail addresses and there was more than one way to get in contact with each other. Unless she just didn't want to contact Zelda anymore...? No, of course not. Who wouldn't want to be associated with Zelda? "I'm sorry," she said, shaking her head,"but are you alright? You look a bit...disheveled."

Jo could only imagine what this girl must think of the way that she looked. But she could not just tell her the truth, now could she? How could anyone take the news of anyone being brought back from the dead. No, she was going to have to put up an act. She remembered how close the two were even if they had yet to meet. She could not tell her the truth. About what she really did. Why she looked the way she did. Why she never sent another letter. ”Oh, I'm sorry about never writing back. I- I was in a coma.” Coma? That was a good enough lie. Obviously you could never write back if you had been in a coma. Right? ”I just woke up. Uhm- what year is it?” She needed to know of how long that she had been gone. And then she would have to find Dean. He needed to know that she was back. How would he react to seeing her again? Alive?
”I don't exactly remember what happened. There was something involving fire. These were the clothes I was wearing. I guess that is why they look like this.” Well, that would explain why her clothes looked the way it did. If she was in a coma, then Jo would have been in the hospital. Which did not explain the dirtiness of her skin.
Jo looked around. She did not like staying in these crappy motels. But she had no choice. Really, she just needed a place to get washed up and to have a place to sleep for at least that night. She looked back to Zelda, shaking the girls hand. ”Though it is really nice to finally get to meet you. We should- we should definitely catch up.” It was obviously in the way she talked that she was not exactly being truthful. Normally, Jo was pretty good at lying and hustling and all of that. But she was a little rusty. After all, she just came back from the day the night before. To be honest, Jo would love to tell her the truth. But it was not something that was easy to tell anyone. And if this girl did not know about the supernatural really existing, then she knew that her old friend would only think that she was crazy. And Jo may be a lot of things, but crazy was not one of them.

"Oh, a coma! Oh, yes, that makes much more sense. I was slightly concerned, you see, I'd received word that you had died. Apparently someone was having a good laugh at my expense, hmm?" she said, laughing slightly. Zelda had an inkling, though, that Jo was not stating the whole truth, if any of that was true at all.
However, it was obvious her friend had been through somewhat of an ordeal, so she was not going to pester her with unnecessary questions. "2013. Didn't they update you after you woke up in the hospital? Oh, please tell me you were in a hospital," she said, tilting her head to the side. It was really the only way Jo would have survived because that would be the only way she would get any kind of nutrients to keep on living. The stitches of the apparent lie that Jo was weaving were slowly tearing apart.
Zelda paused and tilted her head to the other side as she took in what her friend was telling her. Whatever hospital Jo had been living in was either the worst hospital in history...or she was most certainly lying. Zelda put her hands on her hips, bit her lip and stared at Jo. The hospital surely wouldn't have given her the dirty, torn clothes back and they most certainly would have at least cleaned her up...which they obviously did not. "I see. Well, it doesn't really matter, I suppose. You're here and you're safe!" she said, feeling the urge to pull her friend into a hug, but restrained herself, not knowing exactly how Jo felt about physical interaction.
Zelda really did not like to be lied to, but it was obvious that Jo had been through quite the ordeal and she certainly was not going to push her for answers. "Yes, most definitely. Er...you're not staying here, are you?" she asked, although she knew that the answer was completely obvious,"I have a spare room at my house that you could stay in until you get back on your feet." Hmm, perhaps it was a good thing that Celia had insisted on staying in a motel while she was staying here...even one of such questionable service.

Someone told her? But who? Obviously she knew that it was not her mother since they had both died in each others arms. Her eyes widen slightly when Zelda had said that and instinctively took a step back. She knew that she was not acting like her old self at all. Probably because she had not even been back twenty-four hours and was a little shaken up. ”Yeah. I was in the hospital. Of course. Where else would I be? Right? I wasn't suppose to leave. I did not even stick around to talk to anyone. I woke up confused and I left on my own. I didn't talk to anyone.” She looked around at her surroundings before looking back to Zelda. ”I had to find someone. I have to find Dean. He needs to know that-” She shook her head, tears in her eyes.
Jo looked down at the ground, hearing Zelda's offer. ”I- I don't know. I don't usually like to except help.” she shrugged. ”I was just going to stay here because all I have is thirty dollars. I just figured I would hustle some pool later on for money. I'm very skilled at that.” She hated this. Hated lying to a friend about the truth. But what else was Jo suppose to do? She felt so freaking lost and confused. Nothing seemed to be going right. This was not like her at all. ”I can't believe this. I was dead for over two years. How can this be happening?” she whispered in a very low tone. You would have to be listening really well to understand or hear what she had said.
Swallowing, Jo looked up at her good friend and sighed. ”I would like to tell you the truth. Really, I would. But I can't. I don't want you to think differently of me. I would not be able to handle that. Things have happened. And I am so sorry. I'm not exactly the girl that you thought I was. There's plenty about me that you do not know about.” Jo really did want to tell the girl the truth. But what would happen if she did? Would Zelda look at her differently? Hate her? Think that she was both crazy and a freak and just walk away from her? Could Jo really handle that happening so soon after being brought back to this earth?

Zelda raised her eyebrows when Jo took a step back upon hearing her words. What had she said? "Well, I'd advise you to never go to that hospital ever again. They apparently didn't take good care of you," she said, crossing her arms. If she found out which hospital Jo had been living at for the past few years, Zelda would most certainly report them. Still, though, she was almost convinced that Jo was lying to her about the whole thing. She pursed her lips and forced herself to drop the subject. "Dean? Dean, isn't that the-oh my!" she said, shocked that the girl had suddenly burst into tears. She put her hand on the girl's shoulder for comfort.
"Look, I understand and appreciate the fact that you like to take care of yourself, but no one's going to think any less of you by accepting a little help. You have what, thirty dollars to your name and you're leaning on gambling to earn more? As good as you may be at the game, that's not a very dependable means of-" she said, pausing to take a deep breath and rub her temple.
Zelda had a habit of being a bit motherly towards those that she cared about, despite if they were older or younger or even the same age as her. She tended to think that she always knew best and she wanted everyone else to think that as well. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to lecture, but it's not as if I'm going to be waiting on you. I'm just offering you a nice bed and a roof over you head. And a little food from time to time," she said, shaking her head,"Please?"
She had been so distracted in her own inner and outer vocally begging that she almost didn't realize that Jo had even said anything. It was obviously to herself, but Zelda caught about every other word. "You were what?"
Zelda shook her hair out of her face and glanced up to the ceiling and sighed before returning her gaze to Jo. "Yes, well, everyone has their own skeletons in the closet. I don't change my mind about people very easily, but if you don't feel like you can tell me the truth about what has happened to you, then you can't. I understand that. Just don't lie to me about it," she said, raising an eyebrow.

Lie. Jo was never one to lie to the people that knew what she was, what she did. This included people who did not know but she was really close to. Jo only lied to strangers, when working a case. ”Oh yeah. That's rich. Don't lie? And how would any normal person react if a person, friend or not, said that they were dead. Were brought back. It's not normal. At least to most people. But I'm not normal. I don't like being called a freak. And I just- I can't handle all of this. God, it's just so much. Jo closed her eyes for a moment, before opening them again. She refused to cry anymore. That just was not who she was. ”Bringing brought back... it's impossible. There should not have been a body to bring me back to. Not after that explosion. God, I wonder if this means my mom was brought back.” She remembered her last moments. Jo had died before the explosion. Died in her mothers arms.
”It won't be for long. I promise. I just need some sleep. I need to clean up. And then I have to find Dean. He's a good friend of mine. Of the family, really. I don't know if you would know him or not.” She sighed and looked down at her clothes, her hands. God, she hated feeling this dirty. She really did. She just wanted to take a long hot shower. Maybe then she would feel a little bit better. She hoped that she would at least. God, what was wrong with her? She definitely was not acting like herself. But she was so sure that she would get back to herself once she got use to everything. And find out the reason for being brought back. And by who of course.
Jo looked back to Zelda and gave a simple smile. She needed to get back on her feet, catch up with the Winchester's find out what had happened with the devil. Hopefully they were both okay. She needed Dean to be okay. After all, she has had a crush on him for god knows how long. But could you blame her? Dean was just... so awesome. Maybe that could turn into more than just a crush. Who knew. First, she would have to find him. That was for sure. She remembered how he had kissed her in her final moments here. That had to mean something, right?

Zelda narrowed her eyes and cross her arms over her chest as she took in what Jo said in response to her accusation. She halted herself in accusing her friend once again of lying. Could she perhaps be telling the truth? Perhaps there was a lot more to Jo Harvelle than Zelda could have ever imagined. She took a deep breath, trying to draw in Jo's scent...yes, she was most certainly human. Zelda would recognize that scent anywhere, since she was constantly surrounded by it. Still, the tone on Jo's face was much m ore truthful when saying that she had died and been brought back to life than it was when saying that she was lying in a hospital in a coma.
Zelda's father was not only an expert on the history and biology of werewolves, but he had also dabbled in researching other supernatural things, some of which he would not even tell Zelda of. She, of course, knew about werewolves, vampires, shapeshifters and things of the like but she remembered happening upon some of her father's notes that entailed information on certain extremely powerful creatures. She really hadn't paid much attention to it, since she had been searching for her father's lycanthropy notes.
Her curiosity had peaked, regarding practically everything that Jo had just said. "Well, it sounds like we both have quite some divulging to do," she said, hinting to the fact the she herself also had secrets.
"I'm not sure if I recognize the name. But anyway, c'mon, we'll get you fixed up," she said, putting an arm around the other girl's shoulders and leading her towards the door of the motel. "You can stay there as long as you need to. I hate to admit it, but it does tend to get a little lonely in that house all by myself," she said with a smile and a light shrug. Zelda hadn't really made any friends in her short time of living in New Orleans, but that was because she really didn't get out much. She spent all of her free time doing research and trying to concoct a cure before experimenting on herself. And the people that worked at the library with her were not really people that she tended to associate with.

This was not like Jo at all. Maybe it was from all the excitement of being brought back that had gotten her feeling a little more than just emotional. She just needed to get everything sorted out. Needed to get cleaned up, grab something to eat, grab a nap maybe. Maybe then she would feel at least a little bit better. She felt just so emotionally drained right now. But wasn't that to be expected? And how would Dean react when he found out that she was alive once again? Yes, Jo did indeed need to find him. Though, this was a big country. He could be just about anywhere. Halfway across the country or right under her nose. Dean could be just about anywhere. But the young hunter was more than determined to find the older boy. She had to.
Remaining quiet for a few minutes, Jo followed Zelda into the building. She really did not care to stay here anyhow. But the girl had no money. How could she? She was only just brought back last night. And everything seemed so different. Though, she needed to find out how and why she was brought back. That was the big question here. There had to be some reason that she was brought back. And why could she not remember the past several years? 2012. She had been gone for like 3 years at least now. And if she had been brought back, had her mother been so as well? And did she really have any way of finding out? This was a pretty big world.
She figured that her old time pen pal would have secrets of her own. Didn't everyone? Though she was keeping the fact that she was a hunter. That she hunted everything supernatural from werewolves to spirits to demons and everything in between. But that was not just something that you could spring on someone. Shaking her head, she just stayed quiet, however. What was she suppose to say, to do? Jo had only just gotten back from the dead last night. Everything just seemed so different. She would definitely have to do a little bit of research, find out exactly what had gone done after her death. Jo did not want to freak her out with what she had said and everything. About how she really had died and was brought back. That would freak anyone out. ”Listen, I just did not want you thinking that I was crazy or whatever by saying that I really was dead. That's why I didn't say anything at first about it.”

Zelda ever so carefully steered her friend towards the direction of her car. Jo was obviously not in a very good state of mind – she’d never seemed like the kind of girl that would just burst into tears in a hotel lobby. “Here, this is mine,” she said, stopping by the first silver car that was parked in the parking lot. She opened the door to the passenger side for Jo and quickly made her way to the driver’s side of the car. Flinging open the door, she quickly moved inside the car and clicked her seat belt. Zelda paused and stayed silent until Jo was all set up in the car.
“Understandable,” she said, putting her key in the ignition and turning the car on,”In all honesty, I’m not sure if I believe this completely. Not to say that I disbelieve you, but-well, I’m sure you understand. It’s quite the claim, after all,” She rested her arm on the back of Jo’s and turned as she backed up the car. With a quick motion, she steered the car out of the parking lot. “Well, what all do you remember? If anything?” she asked, glancing at Jo, partially to give her friend her attention nd partially to check how she was doing. If Jo really had died, what or who was it that brought her back? And why? Zelda tried to silence her own curiosity as she waited for Jo’s response. They could figure all that out later – the important thing now was to make sure Jo was alright.
“And who is this Dean you’re talking about? What’s his last name?” she asked, returning her attention to the road. Zelda did know of a Dean and she was curious as to if it might be the same person. What a coincidence that would be! It had been at least a few months since she’d last spoken to that Dean, but she would see if she could get a hold of him, if it was the same Dean that Jo was talking about, that is.
“Thankfully, I don’t live too far away from the hotel, so we should be there in just a few moments” she said, setting her arm on the edge of the door and resting her head in her hand as she drove. She might just have to cancel her plans with Celia for the evening, but she was sure her friend would understand.

Jo immediately put on her seat belt once she was in the car and just stared out of the window. She needed to realize, to calm down. This was not like her once so ever. What was the last thing that she remembered? It all came back to her in flashes. It was like reliving that day all over again. The worst day that she had ever experienced. The explosion. She did not even remember the explosion. But she was so sure that it had happened. It had to have. She remembered Meg, remembered the hell hounds. ”It would sound completely crazy if I told you the last thing I remembered. But remember, you might not believe it. How could anyone. But I will tell you about the last thing that I remember. My last moments.” Bleeding. She was bleeding so bad. She couldn't move, couldn't walk. But she had to do something. Had to. Which was what had ended her and her mothers lives. “I wasn't alone you know. We had to stop something from happening. A big something. End of the world big. My mom was there. And Sam and Dean. There was four of us there when it happened. But... I had to save Dean. I was not about to let a hell hound get him. Not again. So I started shooting. And one of those damn hounds got me. Got me real good. And Dean carried me into a nearby building and they blocked the doors. It was horrible. There was blood everywhere. And I knew that there was no way that I was going to come out of this alive.”
It was hard, reliving that day over again. But hey, the girl wanted to know what the last thing she remembered was. And this was the last thing. After she died, well, Jo had no idea what had happened. “I knew that making it was not possible. I couldn't walk, couldn't fight. My guts were literally being held in by an ace bandage. So I came up with a plan. To at least give the boys a head start. We made a bomb and my mom... she decided to stay behind with me because like she said I wasn't going anywhere and someone had to open the doors. The last thing I remember was my mother telling me that she loved me and then everything went black. The next thing I remember is waking up in some empty field at night, wearing the exact same clothes that I had died in. I know, sounds crazy, right? But it's the truth.”
Jo leaned back in her seat staring straight ahead of her, taking in a deep, shallow breath. “Dean. Dean Winchester. He needs to know that I'm back. He was there when it all happened. We're old friends.” Hopefully the boys were all right. She had no idea what had happened, if they had beat the devil. She just hoped that they were alright.

[/img] Zelda frowned and pursed her lips as she took in everything that Jo said. She’d heard her father mention hell hounds in passing, but she had no idea that what they actually were. Or that they had actually existed. What sort of things existed now in the world that she was not knowledgeable of? She had a feeling that this story just grazed the surface of all the things that Jo had actually been through. “ Well,” she said a moment after her friend and stopped speaking,” I’ve been aware of the supernatural for awhile now, but I had no idea there was anything this powerful out there.” She had inwardly decided that Jo was telling the truth, but she still had plenty of questions. It was evident that Jo wasn’t revealing the whole truth to Zelda, but she was sure it would come out later. “ I believe you, Jo, I believe you,” she said before laying on the horn when someone cut in front of her. Zelda muttered some curses under breath towards the driver of the other vehicle before forcing her attention back to Jo. “ Winchester?” she repeated, somewhat surprised. She grinned and reached into her purse, partially watching the road and partially glancing down to find what she was looking for. “ I think I actually have-” she paused as she pulled her phone out of her purse and began searching through her contacts. “ If it’s the same Dean Winchester, I think I might actually have his number. Did you mention a Sam, as well?” she asked, looking at Jo. What a coincidence this was! If it really was the same Dean Winchester, why-what a small world. “ Yep, there he is!” she said, closing her phone after she saw Dean Winchester’s name in her contacts,” We won’t call him right away, though. You obviously need to get some rest. And you must be starving, too.” Shortly later, Zelda pulled into her driveway and up to the garage. “ This is it. Come along,” she said, undoing her seatbelt and opening her door. She figured Jo might not appreciate it too much if Zelda opened the door for her. Zelda knew that she liked to do things for herself. Slinging her purse over her shoulder, she walked up to the door and opened it. She gasped slightly when she saw that she had left her beakers and formulas out on the counter. “ Er…forgive the mess,” she said, moving over to the counter,” Make yourself at home.”[/blockquote]
