- - - - overall personality, Alex is not a very serious person whatsoever. Growing up, he was constantly terrorizing his sisters with pranks and jokes that his father had gotten him from miscellaneous joke shops. Alex absolutely loves writing, but it can annoy those around him because he pulls ideas from everyday life, meaning anyone that interacts with him might end up being in one of his stories. He is not afraid to be silly if it means putting a smile on someone’s face.
He doesn't like to take most things too seriously because he feels that it doesn't do anything to help the situation. Alex can often be found cracking jokes during a serious parts of management meetings to lessen the tension. It usually isn't too appreciated, but he continues doing it anyway.
While it is true that Alex is a very jovial person, he definitely knows when he needs to be serious. He knows that there are certain times where a joke would be completely inappropriate. For example, when there is an upset customer at work or when one of the main managers is upset with him. Or when he had heard the news of what had happened to his father. He very much wants to be in a serious relationship and maybe even be married at this time in his life. Because of this, he is constantly “falling in love” far too easily and ends up getting hurt over and over again.

- - - - overall history, In the fall of 1986, Adam Garrett and his very pregnant wife, Violet, were going on vacation to the Galapagos Islands. Adam was quite the fan of one Charles Darwin and wanted to the see place where he first discovered the creatures that spurred his evolution theory. To their surprise, the fresh air seemed to be just what Violet needed, and Alex was born.
The next few years were fairly calm, until Adam and Violet had another child; a girl this time. They named her Marie and bratty little Alex could not stand her. That thing was what had taken his parents attention away from him. This phase did not last long, though. His attitude changed somewhat after the first time he made the baby cry.
A few more years passed and while Alex was still not overly friendly to the new child, he did not antagonize her quite as much as he did. By the time Alex had turned six, the Garretts had one more child. This one they named Zelda and Alex seemed to get along with her a bit better. Adam and Violet are suspicious this was because Zelda took the attention away from Marie.
As he got higher up in the schooling system, the more he enjoyed school. Alex was a very studious boy whilst in school and he grew to especially love the subjects of chemistry and writing. Chemistry turned out to be something that Alex was really good at, so he spent a lot of his time studying the subject, following in his father’s footsteps.
While Alex was extremely studious while he was in school, he certainly did have his share of fun. He wasn't so much a prankster, exactly, but he loved to crack jokes during class, much to the annoyance of his teachers. He had quite a group of friends in his schooling years, but his absolute best friend continued to be Daniel Moore, who helped him through several of his heartbreaks.
At 13 years old, a family crisis showed itself to the Garretts. Adam had a life goal to find the cure to lycanthropy. However, he was too cocky one full moon during experimentation and was bitten. Fearing that he was putting his family in danger with his research, he stopped his findings. Alex and Zelda would not stand for this, so they stole his research and continued it themselves. At 16 years old, he joined a creativity club in the community, which was what made his writing really flourish. This was where he met David Dorée, who was an aspiring filmmaker. They grew to be very close friends and started partnering up on their projects.
After graduating high schol, Alex continued on to the college level at the University of Saint Calais, where he majored in business. College was where he discovered his special gift. It was at the end of his sophomore year, when he was studying for a business math final in the library. Math was not exactly his strong subject, so he got easily frustrated. In his frustration, he tossed the textbook away from him and all of the light bulbs in the library exploded. At first, he passed this off as just a coincidence, but thing of the same manner kept happening, so he did a little research and came to the realization that he had some sort of power. Alex continued to study and practice these powers during college and after he graduated.
After he graduated, he got a cashier job at a Barnes and Noble and over the years, he gained promotions and is now an assistant manager. He was bitten in the process of saving his mother and youngest sister from being killed by one of his father's escaped werewolves.

Ironically, after Alex had been bitten by one of Adam’s test subjects, he and his father had been closer than ever. He didn’t hold any ill feelings towards his father or his research, despite it being the cause that he was a werewolf now, too. They had always been close. It would be ridiculous for them not to be, as they had the same sense of humor, same demeanor. The main difference was that Adam was far sillier than Alex was. The two men sat across the table from each other, sipping on their Earl Gray tea.
“Well, she sounds lovely, Alexander,” said Adam with a smile and nod of his head. He opened his mouth, but hesitated in speaking as he ran his hand around the brim of his now empty teacup.
“What is it?” asked Alex, pausing in finishing off the rest of his tea. He recognized the mannerisms, for they were his as well.
“I just want you to be careful, Alexander. Not everyone is as open minded as we are,” he said, leaning forward slightly, knowing that his son would know to what he was referring.
Alex sighed and nodded before finishing off the rest of his tea. “I haven’t told her yet, Dad, but…I really don’t think it’s going to be an issue. Really, as soon as you meet her, you’ll see what I mean,” he said, giving his father a reassuring nod. He couldn’t picture Evie having a problem with his lycanthropy. At least…he hoped not.
“Well, good!” said Adam, smacking the table and grinning, his worries gone from his face. He pushed his teacup and saucer away from him and stood up. “I do hate to cut this short but…well, I found someone the other night. In the forest out back. He shouldn’t be alone too long,” he said, a sad look crossing his face. Adam pulled his son into a hug and kissed him on the head before pulling away. “It was a good chat. You still coming for dinner next Sunday? It’s your mother’s birthday, you know,” he said, quirking an eyebrow at Alex.
A grin burst out across Alex’s face and he nodded. “Wouldn’t miss it for anything, Dad!” he said with a nod as his father clapped him on the back. He watched his father descend the stairs into his laboratory when the front door flung open.
“Why, Ashton!” said Alex, leaning down to sweep the young child into his arms,”How is it you always know when I’m at home? You must be developing a seer ability!” It wasn't as if he came to visit his family at the same time every week or anything. He pulled the child into a hug before lowering him to the ground. “And there’s Preston!” he said, striding over to pull the other man into a hug as well. He knew that this was a hard day for the both of them. It was Gabriella's birthday, after all, and she hadn't been gone too long. "And what's the plan for today?" he asked, pulling away from the hug and patting his friend on the back,"Are you hungry? I just finished some tea with Dad, but I could fix something if you like." He wandered back into the kitchen, motioning for the other two to follow him.
